“Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.””
(1 Corinthians 6:16)
This verse reveals a profound spiritual truth: every sexual union creates a spiritual bond.
When God established the union between man and woman in marriage, He declared, “The two shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24).
This principle applies not only to marriage but to every sexual act.
Therefore, the one who unites with a prostitute—or anyone outside of God’s covenant—does not merely perform a physical act, but attaches his soul to that person. His body, which belongs to Christ, becomes defiled. This is why Paul reminds believers that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
This passage is not meant to condemn but to awaken spiritual awareness: your body does not belong to you; it belongs to God.
Yet, God’s grace is greater than our failures.
Through repentance and faith in Christ, every destructive bond can be broken, and the soul can be made whole again.
Keeping yourself pure is not only honoring God but also protecting your own soul from invisible ties that steal peace and joy.
What God designed to unite in holiness, Satan uses to destroy in sin.
But Jesus came to break every chain of impurity.
Let your body be an instrument of holiness, not of destruction.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for redeeming me at a great price and making my body Your temple.
Forgive me for the times I have not honored this truth and let my desires rule over me.
Purify me from every impure bond and every union outside Your will.
Deliver me from everything that keeps me away from You and fill me with Your Spirit of holiness.
Help me honor You with my thoughts, my choices, and my body.
Today, I choose to be united with You alone, and to live as one with You.
Amen.
