Jesus had many friends until the day of his arrest which was followed by persecution and death.
After Judas betrayed him, the other disciples abandoned him and Peter denied it.
Only Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James, and Salome accompanied him and remained faithful to him until his death:
« When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. »(Mark 16:1)

To be faithful unto death is to be loyal, constant, the same, steadfast and unchanging unto death.
If, like Judas, we can betray people who have done us good and who take us for friends, If, like the disciples of Jesus, we can abandon people at times when they need our support much more, If, like Peter, we can deny people we know in times when they need our testimony much more, we are not being faithful in our friendships. However, it is this fidelity towards others which sincerely testifies to our belonging to God.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us the power to remain faithful to our friends until death.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.

Jésus avait beaucoup d’amis jusqu’au jour de son arrestation qui fut suivi par la persécution et la mort.
Après que Judas l’ait trahi, les autres disciples l’ont abandonné et Pierre l’a nié.
Seules Marie de Magdala, Marie, mère de Jacques, et Salomé lui ont accompagné et lui sont restées fidèles jusqu’à sa mort:
« Lorsque le sabbat fut passé, Marie de Magdala, Marie, mère de Jacques, et Salomé, achetèrent des aromates, afin d’aller embaumer Jésus. »(Marc 16:1)

Être fidèle jusqu’à la mort, c’est être loyal, constant, le même, inébranlable et immuable jusqu’à la mort.
Si, comme Judas, nous pouvons trahir des gens qui nous ont fait du bien et qui nous prennent pour des amis, Si, comme les disciples de Jésus, nous pouvons abandonner des gens dans des moments où ils ont beaucoup plus besoin de notre soutien, Si, comme Pierre, nous pouvons nier des personnes que nous connaissons dans des moments où ils ont beaucoup plus besoin de notre témoignage, Nous ne sommes pas fidèles dans nos amitiés. Or, c’est cette fidélité envers les autres qui témoigne sincèrement notre appartenance à Dieu.

PRIÈRE:
Éternel notre Dieu, donnez-nous de pouvoir rester fidèles à nos amis jusqu’à la mort.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions, Amen.

« Isabato ishize, Mariya Magadalena na Mariya nyina wa Yakobo na Salome, bagura ibihumura neza ngo bajye kubimusīga. »(Mariko 16:1)

Kuba umwizerwa kugeza ku rupfu ni ukuba inyangamugayo, guhoraho mu mahirwe no mu byago, kudahinduka, gushikama no kunamba ku muntu kugeza ku rupfu.
Niba, kimwe na Yuda, dushobora guhemukira abantu batugiriye neza kandi bakadufata nk’inshuti, Niba, kimwe n’abigishwa ba Yesu, dushobora gutererana abantu mu bihe bakeneye ubufasha bwacu cyane, Niba, nka Petero, dushobora kwihakana abantu tuzi mu bihe bakeneye cyane ubuhamya bwacu, ntabwo turi abizerwa mu bucuti bwacu.
Nyamara, uku kuba abizerwa ku bandi niko guhamya by’ukuri ko turi ab’Imana.

ISENGESHO:
Uwiteka Mwami Mana yacu, dushoboze gukomeza kuba abizerwa ku nshuti zacu kugeza ku rupfu.
Ni mu izina ry’agaciro ry’umwana wawe Yesu Kristo tubisabye, Amen.

Yuda amaze kumutanga, abandi bigishwa biwe baramuhevye barahunga, Petero nawe aramwihakana.
Mariya Magadalena na Mariya nyina wa Yakobo na Salome, nibo bonyene bamuherekeje bamubera abizerwa, bamurambararako gushika ku rupfu:
« Maz’ isabato ishize, Mariya Magadalene, na Mariya nyina wa Yakobo, na Salome bagura ibimota neza, ngo baje kubimusiga. »(Mariko 16:1)

Kuba umwizigirwa gushika ku rupfu n’ukuba umwizerwa, guhoraho mu mahirwe no mu magorwa, kudahinduka, gushikama no kurambarara ku muntu gushika ku rupfu.
Nimba, cokimwe na Yuda, dushobora guhemukira abantu batugiriye neza kandi bakadufata nk’abagenzi, Nimba, cokimwe n’abigishwa ba Yesu, dushobora guheba abantu mu bihe bakeneye ubufasha bgacu cane, Nimba, nka Petero, dushobora kwihakana abantu tuzi mu bihe bakeneye cane intahe yacu, ntituri abizigirwa mu bucuti bgacu.
Yamara, uko kuba abizigirwa ku bandi niko gushingirintahe vy’ukuri ko turi ab’Imana.

IGISABISHO:
Uhoraho Mwami Mana yacu, dushoboze gukomeza kuba abizerwa ku bagenzi bacu gushika ku rupfu.
Ni mw’izina ridasanzwe ry’umwana wawe Yesu Kristo tubisavye, Amen.

Most of the time, we underestimate ourselves, simply because we ignore the potential that God has given us.
And yet, GOD would like us to use it.

As an example, let us cite the case of Gideon who procrastinated from carrying out the mission to liberate Israel because he underestimated himself, saying:
« My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family. »(Judges 6:15)

GOD has told him:
« Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you? »(Judges 6:14)

Gideon represents here every child of God and Midian every enemy or every trial.
From the moment we welcome Jesus into our lives and accept him as our King and our Savior, we receive with him all the potential or strength necessary to face any enemy and any test.
We therefore have no reason to underestimate ourselves because with Jesus, we have everything and « in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. »(Romans 8:37)

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to never underestimate ourselves again.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
