KNOWING GOD

We all need to know our God, what pleases Him, what He hates and how He acts.

He said: « Let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, » declares the LORD. »(Jeremiah 9:24)

We have no reason to boast (1 Corinthians 1:29) for we are nothing without God and we have nothing that has not been given to us by God.
The only thing a Christian can boast about is knowing God.
If we know and experience that God is the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, we can claim to know God.
If we know the goodness and the kindness of God, we cannot fail to love God with all our hearts.
And if we know his justice and righteousness, we cannot fail to hate evil and flee from it.
Now, hating and fleeing evil is what the Bible calls having understanding (read Job 28:28), and that is actually what knowing God is really.
Do you know God?

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to know you more than before.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.

NEVER DISREGARD ANY USEFUL ADVICE

God’s Word exhorts us to seek wise counselors and accept their counsel to be successful in what we do.

« Take the advice of sensible people, and never treat any useful advice lightly. »(Tobit 4:18)

We must of course choose these advisors carefully because not all advisors are wise.
There are two types of counselors we should avoid: “wicked ones” and “fool ones”. Their advice is not good to listen to.
The wicked are those who are hostile to God or guilty of sin.
« Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked… »(Psalm 1:1)
The fool is the stupid, the simple, the arrogant.
« Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips. »(Proverbs 14:7)
The Bible tells us to seek the advice of “wise people” or « sensible people ».

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us that we may never despise any useful counsel.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
