Luke 13:11
And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

MEDITATION:
Imagine being bowed over for 18 years. All you would see is the dust on the ground. That was the predicament of that woman.
Thank God she finally saw the beautiful feet of Jesus, who brought her good news and raised her up.
Dust is the devil’s food. The Bible tells us that God cursed the devil to eat dust all the days of his life (see Genesis 3:14).
Dust therefore represents evil, since we know very well that devil feeds only on evil.
We can not be physically inclined like this woman, but, It may happen that our mind be inclined to see only « dust ».
And when we look only at dust, we can only see evil, that our faults, our failures, our weaknesses, and our relationships are deprived of peace and joy.
If then we want to look only at the dust, let’s look up from the dust! Instead of looking at our failures, let’s look at Christ who delivered us from every defeat. Let us see ourselves as God sees us – righteous and holy in Christ (see Colossians 3:12, 2 Corinthians 5:21).
Beloved, if we decide to look and fix on Christ, we will straighten up and walk as God sees us – a new creation endowed with His authority, power and victorious spirit!

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the strength to straighten up spiritually so that we could see and follow Christ.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.

Test

Micah 7:8
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

MEDITATION:
When those who do not know God see us in a deplorable situation, they rejoice at our downfall. They say by making fun of us: « Where is his God? »
They think that God has abandoned us, that we can not get up and that it’s over.
To his enemy, Micaiah said: « If I fall, I will rise up, and if I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. »
Indeed, any soul who has learned to trust in God does not doubt the final salvation. She is assured that her fall was in the hands of God only the occasion of her recovery. She knows that if the darkness of the tribulation now surrounds her, the Lord will be her light when it appears (read in Isaiah 9: 2, 50:10).
And in reality, God never abandons those who believe in Him and put all their trust in him.
Whatever the duration of the night, the sun finally appears.
And even if, we can believe and recognize as Micaiah, that our fate is a consequence of our sins, it is enough for us simply to humble ourselves, before God and ask forgiveness; God ends up bringing us out to the light and rehabilitating us.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, come to our rescue so that those who do not know You would see that You never abandon your men.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.

Michée 7:8
Ne te réjouis pas à mon sujet, ô mon ennemie ; car, si je suis tombée, je me relèverai ; si je suis assise dans les ténèbres, Yahweh est ma lumière.

MÉDITATION:
Lorsque ceux qui ne connaissent pas Dieu nous voient dans une situation déplorable, ils se réjouissent de notre chute. Ils disent en se moquant de nous : Où est son Dieu?
Ils pensent que Dieu nous a abandonné, que nous ne pouvons pas nous relever et que c’est fini.
À son ennemie, Michée dit: « si je tombe, je me relèverai; si je suis assise dans les ténèbres, l’Éternel sera ma lumière. »
En effet, toute âme qui a appris à se confier en Dieu ne doute pas du salut final. Elle est assurée que sa chute n’a été entre les mains de Dieu que l’occasion de son relèvement. Elle sait que si les ténèbres de la tribulation l’environnent maintenant, l’Éternel sera sa lumière lorsqu’il apparaîtra (lire dans Ésaïe 9:2; 50:10).
Et en réalité, Dieu n’abandonne jamais ceux qui croient en lui et mettent toute leur confiance en lui.
Quelle que soit la durée de la nuit, le soleil finit par apparaître.
Et même si, nous pouvons croire et reconnaitre comme Michée, que notre sort est une conséquence de nos péchés, il nous suffit tout simplement de nous humilier, devant Dieu et lui demander pardon; Dieu finit par nous faire sortir à la lumière et nous réhabiliter.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, venez à notre secours pour que ceux qui ne vous connaissent pas voient que vous n’abandonnez jamais les vôtres.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

Proverbs 15:1
« A gentle answer turn away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. »

MEDITATION:
Who has never known anger?
Nobody.
The Bible tells us that even God get angry when we do abominable things.
We must avoid provoking and exciting the anger of others.
Even if, in the state of fury, others may be violent or aggressive toward us, we must know how to answer them gently, to calm their fury.
Indeed, a gentle word caresses the heart and soothes the tense minds while a harsh word provokes and excites anger.
Let’s be careful and know how to find or use gentle words to respond to others when they are angry.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, always give us good words.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.

Proverbes 15:1
Une réponse douce calme la fureur, mais une parole dure excite la colère.

MÉDITATION:
Qui n’a jamais connu de colère?
Personne. La Bible nous dit que même Dieu connait la colère si nous faisons des choses abominables.
Seulement, nous devons éviter de provoquer et d’exciter la colère des autres.
Même si dans l’état de fureur les autres peuvent être violents ou agressifs envers nous, nous devons savoir leur répondre avec douceur pour calmer leur fureur.
En effet, une parole douce caresse le coeur et apaise les esprits tendus tandis qu’une parole dure provoque et excite la colère.
Soyons prudents et sachons trouver ou user de paroles douces pour répondre aux autres lorsqu’ils sont en colère.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous toujours de bonnes paroles douces à répondre à ceux qui sont en colère.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.
Amen.

John 14: 9
« Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time ? »

MEDITATION:
« From now on, you do know him and have seen him. » (John 14: 7).
It was this statement that raised questions in Philip asking Jesus: « Show us the Father, and that is enough for us. » (John 14: 8).
This is precisely what they should have seen in Jesus; but they did not know him as this gospel presents him.
Jesus answered: « I have been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip, who has seen me, has seen the Father, and how do you say, Show us the Father?  »
And if Philip who lived with Jesus did not know him, how could we, who did not see him with our own eyes, claim to know him so easily?
Indeed, many Christians do not know him.
To acknowledge that Jesus is God is not enough to pretend to know him! We must also and above all come to recognize his image in any man, friend or foe.
That’s all Jesus taught all his life: to love and respect every human being.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help us to recognize you as God and to recognize your image in every human being.
It is in your precious name that we pray.
Amen.

Jean 14:9
« Il y a longtemps que je suis avec vous, et tu ne m’as pas connu? »

MÉDITATION:
« Dès maintenant vous le connaissez et vous l’avez vu » (Jean 14: 7).
C’est cette déclaration qui a suscité des interrogations chez Philippe pour demander à Jésus: « Montre-nous le Père, et cela nous suffit. » (Jean 14: 8). C’est précisément ce qu’ils auraient dû voir en Jésus; mais ils ne l’ont pas connu tel que cet évangile le présente. Jésus répondit: « Je suis depuis si longtemps avec vous, et tu ne m’as pas connu, Philippe? Celui qui m’a vu, a vu le Père; et comment toi, dis-tu: Montre-nous le Père? »
Et si Philippe qui a vécu avec Jésus ne l’a pas connu, comment nous, qui ne l’avons pas vu avec nos propres yeux, prétendrions-nous le connaître si facilement?
Effectivement, nombreux parmi les chrétiens ne le connaissent pas.
Reconnaître que Jésus est Dieu ne suffit pas pour prétendre le connaitre! Il faut aussi et surtout arriver à reconnaitre son image en tout homme, ami ou ennemi.
C’est tout ce que Jésus a enseigné toute sa vie: aimer et respecter tout être humain.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur Jésus, aidez-nous à vous reconnaitre comme Dieu et à reconnaître votre image en tout être humain.
C’est dans ton nom précieux que nous prions.
Amen.

James 1:2-3
[2] Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
[3] because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

MEDITATION:
Many of us have experienced an ordeal that seems to have triggered others afterwards.
The loss of a job, the death of a loved one, an unwanted divorce or a decline in health can all be part of it.
Even though a certain crisis may seem to affect us deeply, God remains sovereign and certainly at the controls. He wants to use tribulations to increase our resilience.
In this regard, James tells us to consider the various trials to which we may be exposed as a subject of complete joy, knowing that the trial of our faith produces perseverance.
The word « perseverance » means to have strength and stamina.
At the heart of the most important trials, let us remember that God is still at work, that He wants to use our experience to forge our character.
And thankfully, God has promised to give us the grace to overcome everything (read in 2 Corinthians 12: 9).
It is enough then to cross all our trials with God.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the wisdom to recognize your will and the strength to resist in all the trials we go through.
It is in the precious name of Your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.

Jacques 1:2-3
[2] Ne voyez qu’un sujet de joie, mes frères, dans les épreuves de toute sorte qui tombent sur vous;
[3] sachant que l’épreuve de votre foi produit la patience.

MÉDITATION:
Nous sommes nombreux à avoir vécu une épreuve semblant en avoir déclenché d’autres par la suite.
La perte d’un emploi, la mort d’un être cher, un divorce non voulu ou un déclin de la santé peuvent tous en faire partie.
Même si une certaine crise peut sembler nous affecter profondément, Dieu reste souverain et très certainement aux commandes. Il désire se servir des tribulations pour augmenter notre résilience.
À ce sujet, Jacques nous dit de regarder comme un sujet de joie complète les diverses épreuves auxquelles nous pouvons être exposés, sachant que l’épreuve de notre foi produit la patience.
Le mot rendu par « patience » signifie avoir de la résistance et de l’endurance.
Au cœur des épreuves les plus marquantes, rappelons-nous que Dieu est encore à l’œuvre, qu’il veut se servir de notre expérience pour forger notre caractère.
Et heureusement, Dieu a promis de nous donner la grâce de tout surmonter (lire dans 2 Corinthiens 12:9).
Il suffit alors de traverser toutes nos épreuves avec Dieu.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous la sagesse de reconnaitre ta volonté et la force de résister dans toutes les épreuves que nous traversons.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.
Amen.
