God’s Word exhorts us to seek wise counselors and accept their counsel to be successful in what we do.

« Take the advice of sensible people, and never treat any useful advice lightly. »(Tobit 4:18)

We must of course choose these advisors carefully because not all advisors are wise.
There are two types of counselors we should avoid: “wicked ones” and “fool ones”. Their advice is not good to listen to.
The wicked are those who are hostile to God or guilty of sin.
« Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked… »(Psalm 1:1)
The fool is the stupid, the simple, the arrogant.
« Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips. »(Proverbs 14:7)
The Bible tells us to seek the advice of “wise people” or « sensible people ».

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us that we may never despise any useful counsel.

La Parole de Dieu nous exhorte à chercher des conseillers sages et à accepter leurs conseils pour avoir du succès dans ce que nous faisons.

« Prends l’avis de toute personne sage, et ne méprise pas un conseil profitable. »(Tobie 4:18)

Nous devons bien sûr bien choisir ces conseillers car tous les conseillers ne sont pas sages.
Il y a deux types de conseillers que nous devons éviter : « les méchants » et « les insensés ». Leurs conseils ne sont pas bons à écouter.
Les méchants ce sont ceux qui sont hostiles à Dieu ou coupables de péché.
« Heureux l’homme qui ne marche pas selon le conseil des méchants… »(Psaume 1:1)
L’insensé c’est le sot, le stupide, le niais, l’arrogant.
« Éloigne-toi de l’insensé; Ce n’est pas sur ses lèvres que tu aperçois la science. »(Proverbes 14:7)
La Bible nous dit de rechercher les conseils des « personnes avisées » ou encore des « personnes sages » seulement.

PRIÈRE:
Éternel notre Dieu, donnez-nous de ne jamais mépriser un conseil profitable.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions, Amen.

In his epistle to the Romans, the apostle Paul advises them to live at peace with everyone.

He says:
« If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. »(Romans 12:18)

People are weird,
They hate you although you love them;
They repay you the evil for the good you do them;
They wish you bad while you wish them good;
They are jealous of you while you are proud of them;
This should not discourage us.
As Christians we must be characterized by love.
It is this love that is the only one that allows us to live in peace with everyone.
It is this love alone that allows us to bear and forgive the offenses of others, and beyond that, to show kindness to those who have wronged us.
It is this love alone that can push us to humble ourselves and ask forgiveness from those we have offended.
It is this love alone that allows us to live in peace with those who do not have it(love).

PRAYER:
Lord our God, help us to live at peace with all.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.

Dans son épître aux Romains, l’apôtre Paul leur conseille de vivre en paix avec tous.

Il dit:
« S’il est possible, autant que cela dépend de vous, soyez en paix avec tous les hommes. »(Romains 12:18)

Les gens sont bizarres,
Ils vous haïssent bien que vous les aimiez;
Ils vous rendent le mal au bien que vous leur faites;
Ils vous souhaitent le mal alors que vous leur souhaitez du bien;
Ils sont jaloux de vous alors que vous êtes fiers d’eux;
Cela ne doit pas nous décourager.
En tant que Chrétiens, nous devons être caractérisés par l’amour.
C’est cet amour est le seul qui nous permet de vivre en paix avec tous.
C’est cet amour seul qui nous permet de supporter et pardonner les offenses des autres, et au-delà de cela, de faire preuve de bonté envers ceux qui nous ont fait du tort.
C’est cet amour seul qui peut nous pousser à nous humilier et demander pardon à ceux que nous avons offensé.
C’est cet amour seul qui nous permet de vivre en paix avec ceux qui ne l’ont pas.

PRIÈRE:
Éternel notre Dieu, aidez-nous à être en paix avec tous.

One of Jesus’ best known statements is found in Matthew 7.12. It is so famous that many have given it a name. It’s called the « Golden Rule. »
Let’s see what it consists of.

« Whatever you want men to do to you, do it also for them; for it is the Law and the Prophets. »(Matthew 7:12)

The negative form of this sentence was already well known. It could be formulated as follows: « Whatever you don’t want to be done to you, don’t do it to others either. »

There is, however, a significant difference between the Golden Rule and its negative form.
Jesus’ teaching is expressed positively by asking us to « do something ».
The negative form recommends that « we refrain from doing something » and therefore has a much narrower scope.

The man of the world, if he wishes to adopt a certain morality, will probably agree to follow the idea conveyed by the negative form.
The moral sense of natural man will be satisfied with such a precept. He will not seek to go beyond what should not be done.
But a much wider horizon awaits the Christian.
It is no longer enough to abstain from evil. Jesus asks us to do all the good possible. This is much more demanding. The Christian life inspires us to go out to meet people and take the initiative to do good.

So therefore, this golden rule teaches us that we should rather wish and do to others all the good that we would like them to do us and their avoid to others all the harm that we would not want them make us.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the wisdom and the courage to always do to others everything we want them to do to us and avoid them everything we would not want them to do to us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.
