James 2:23
Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

MEDITATION:
The Bible tells us that there are those who deny the reality of God (2 Pet. 3.4-6), but James reminds us of his divine reality and how an Old Testament believer became God’s friend:
Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
James refers to chapter 15 of the book of Genesis, but he quotes it as having been fulfilled many years later when he « offered his son Isaac on the altar » according to the account of Genesis 22.
The sacrifice of Isaac was the work by which Abraham showed the faith he had had for a long time in the heart.
Our Redeemer God has also done the same thing as Abraham:
He gave his Son to become our true and eternal friend (see Jn 15:15).
He wants us to accept this friendship by believing in him, trusting him and doing his will.

Lord our God, Give us to believe You and to trust You as Abraham.

Jacques 2:23
« Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice », et il fut appelé ami de Dieu.

MÉDITATION:
La Bible nous dit qu’il y a ceux qui nient la réalité de Dieu (2 Pi 3.4-6), mais Jacques nous rappelle sa réalité divine et comment un croyant de l’Ancien Testament est devenu l’ami de Dieu: « Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice; et il fut appelé ami de Dieu » (Ja 2.23).
Jacques se réfère au chapitre 15 du livre de la Genèse, mais il le cite comme ayant eu son accomplissement bien des années plus tard quand il « offrit son fils Isaac sur l’autel » selon le récit de Genèse 22.
Le sacrifice d’Isaac était l’œuvre par laquelle Abraham a montré la foi qu’il avait eue depuis longtemps dans le cœur.
Notre Dieu Rédempteur a aussi fait le même acte qu’Abraham:
Il a donné son Fils pour qu’il devienne notre Ami véritable et éternel (voir Jn 15.15).
Il veut que nous acceptions cette amitié en croyant en lui, en lui faisant confiance et en faisant sa volonté.

Psalms 91:10-12
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

MEDITATION:
As our father, God cares for us and protects us.
So we do not have to fear anything (accidents, terrorist attacks, diseases or plagues …), because Heavenly Father loves us and watches over us.
To watch over us and protect us, God uses the angels: He commands his angels to keep us in all our ways.
In the good ways, his angels watch that the devil does not intervene to divert us.
And if by imprudence or disobedience we find ourselves on a wrong path of life, God does not abandon us, He commands his angels to ensure that we do not fall into the traps of the devil.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us to remember that you take care of us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.

Psaumes 91:10-12
« Le malheur ne viendra pas jusqu’à toi, aucun fléau n’approchera de ta tente. Car il ordonnera à ses anges de te garder dans toutes tes voies. Ils te porteront sur leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre la pierre. »

MÉDITATION:
En tant que notre père, Dieu prend soin de nous et nous protège.
Nous n’avons donc pas à craindre quoi que ce soit (les accidents, les attaques terroristes, les maladies ou les fléaux…), car notre Père céleste nous aime et veille sur nous.
Pour veiller sur nous et nous protéger, Dieu utilise les anges: Il ordonne à ses anges de nous garder dans toutes nos voies.
Dans le bonnes voies, ses anges veillent que le diable ne vienne s’y interposer pour nous détourner.
Et si par imprudence ou désobéissance, nous nous retrouvions sur une mauvaise voie de la vie, Dieu Lui ne nous abandonne pas, Il ordonne ses anges de veiller à ce que nous ne tombions pas dans les pièges du diable.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de nous rappeler que vous prenez soin de nous.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

Luke 23:37
« If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself. »

MEDITATION:
The soldiers who watched Jesus mocked him when he was on the cross: approaching, and presenting him with vinegar, they said to him:
« If you, you are the King of the Jews, save yourself » (v 35-37).
That’s how people make fun of us when they find us in difficult situations and conditions.
Those who laugh at us arrogantly remind us of the words we once said frankly, jokingly or unconsciously, wonderful or unpleasant moments we spent in our past, to taunt us, make fun of us or criticize us.
And when they find us in difficult situations, they think it’s over for us!
Jesus had said that he was a king, and those who mocked him, believing it was over for him when they saw him on the cross, found that they were wrong when they saw him again risen.
Indeed, all those who laugh at the people they find in difficult situations, are also mistaken.
God never abandons those who believe and trust Him.
Whether we are criticized, mocked or even condemned, nothing should worry or discourage us if we are aware that He whom we recognize as our King and our Savior, Jesus Christ, can save us from any situation.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us confidence in you when the world turns against us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.

Luc 23:37
« Si tu es le roi des Juifs, sauve-toi toi-même. »

MÉDITATION:
Les soldats qui surveillaient Jésus se sont moqués de lui lorsqu’il était sur la croix: s’approchant, et lui présentant du vinaigre, ils lui disaient:
« Si toi, tu es le roi des Juifs, sauve-toi toi-même » (v 35-37).
C’est comme ça que les gens se moquent aussi de nous quand elles nous trouvent dans des situations et conditions difficiles.
Ceux qui se moquent de nous, nous rappellent avec arrogance des paroles que nous avons un jour dites avec franchise, en blaguant ou en état d’inconscience, des moments merveilleux ou désagréables que nous avons passés dans notre passé, pour nous narguer, se moquer de nous ou nous critiquer.
Et quand ils nous trouvent dans des situations difficiles, ils croient que c’est fini pour nous !
Jésus avait dit qu’il était roi et ceux qui se moquaient de lui, croyant que c’était fini pour lui, lorsqu’ils l’ont vu sur la croix, ont constaté qu’ils se sont trompés quand ils l’ont encore vu ressuscité.
Effectivement, se trompent aussi tous ceux qui se moquent des personnes qu’ils trouvent dans des situations difficiles.
Dieu n’abandonne jamais ceux qui croient et se confient en Lui.
Qu’on nous critique, qu’on se moque de nous ou qu’on nous condamne même, rien ne doit nous inquiéter ou nous décourager si nous sommes conscients que Celui que nous reconnaissons comme notre Roi et notre Sauveur, Jésus-Christ, peut nous sauver de n’importe quelle situation.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de garder notre confiance en Vous lorsque le monde se tourne contre nous.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

Luke 5:28
…he left all, rose up, and followed him.

MEDITATION:
Seeing Levi sitting at the recipe desk, Jesus said to him, « Follow me. »
And leaving everything, he got up and followed him.
God’s call has in it, the power to give up everything to follow Christ.
Had it not been for the sake of faith, it would not have been easy for Levi to leave his recipe desk where he gets a lot of income to follow someone he did not know well.
Faith does not reason; for, by following the Lord, we have everything in Him, and we find in His path all that His goodness has prepared for each day.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us strength and courage to leave all that prevents us from following Christ.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.

Luc 5:28
…quittant tout, se leva et le suivit.

MÉDITATION:
Voyant Lévi assis au bureau de recettes, Jésus lui dit: « Suis-moi. »
Et quittant tout, il se leva et le suivit.
L’appel de Dieu porte en soi la puissance de tout abandonner pour suivre Christ.
N’eût-été à cause de la foi, Il n’aurait pas été facile pour Levi de quitter son bureau de recettes où il perçoit beaucoup de revenus pour suivre quelqu’un qu’il ne connaissait pas bien.
La foi ne raisonne pas; car, en suivant le Seigneur, on a tout en lui et l’on trouve sur sa route tout ce que sa bonté a préparé pour chaque jour.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous la force et le courage de quitter tout ce qui nous empêche de suivre Christ.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

Acts 2:11
« …we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. »

MEDITATION:
On the day of Pentecost, men from all nations, Jews living in Jerusalem, men from Parthia, Medes, Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the neighboring Libyan, countries of Cyrene, and Romans passing through Jerusalem had come to join the Apostles who were together in one place.
And behold, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak other tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.
Curiously, everyone heard the other speak his own language!
Surprised and astonished, they said: »Are not all these people who speak Galileans ?How is it that we hear them each speak the particular idiom of our native country?
Imagine, the Jews, the proselytes, the Cretans, and the Arabs, all heard, each in his own language, proclaiming the wonders of God.
May the Holy Spirit also come to our families and communities so that we could understand each other easily, speaking and understanding, the same language of love and peace!

PRAYER:
Lord our God, Fill us also with your Holy Spirit so that we could speak and hear the same language with our enemies, our adversaries and our partners.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.

Actes 2:11
« …nous les entendons annoncer dans nos langues les merveilles de Dieu. »

MÉDITATION:
Au jour de la Pentecôte, des hommes de toutes le nations, les Juifs résidant à Jérusalem, des hommes en provenance de Parthes, de Mèdes, des Elamites, les habitants de la Mésopotamie, de la Judée et de la Cappadoce, du Pont et de l’Asie, de la Phrygie et de la Pamphylie, de l’Egypte et des contrées de la Lybie voisine de Cyrène, et des Romains de passage à Jérusalem, étaient venus se joindre au apôtres qui étaient ensemble en un même lieu.
Et voilà qu’ils furent tous remplis du Saint-Esprit, et se mirent à parler d’autres langues, selon que l’Esprit-Saint leur donnait de s’exprimer.
Curieusement, chacun entendait l’autre parler sa propre langue !
Surpris et étonnés, ils disaient: « Ces gens qui parlent, ne sont-ils pas tous Galiléens?
Comment se fait-il que nous les entendions parler chacun l’idiome particulier de notre pays natal?
Imaginez-vous, les Juifs, les prosélytes, les Crétois et les Arabes, tous entendaient, chacun dans sa propre langue, annoncer les merveilles de Dieu.
Que le Saint-Esprit vienne aussi dans nos familles et dans nos communautés pour que nous puissions nous entendre facilement, parlant et comprenant tous, un même langage d’amour et de paix !

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, remplissez-nous aussi de votre Esprit-Saint pour que nous puissions parler et entendre un même langage avec nos ennemis, nos adversaires et nos partenaires.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.
