“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you…” (Hosea 4:6)
1. Introduction
In today’s world, people pursue human knowledge, science, and personal advancement.
Yet, despite all this, we see societies falling apart — morally, spiritually, and relationally.
The problem is not the lack of education, but the lack of godly wisdom.
Hosea 4:6 is more than just a sad observation — it’s a serious warning:
“Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you.”
God does not destroy His people arbitrarily. The destruction comes because they reject His truth — and that rejection leads to His rejection in return.
2. What does it mean to reject knowledge?
Rejecting knowledge is not simply being ignorant.
It is a conscious decision to turn away from God’s wisdom. People reject God’s knowledge when they:
•Neglect reading or listening to His Word,
•Refuse biblical teachings and correction,
•Ignore the conviction of the Holy Spirit,
•Prefer human ideas, culture, or traditions over divine truth,
•Harden their hearts and resist obedience.
It is rebellion — sometimes quiet, sometimes open — but always dangerous.
3. How does God reject those who reject His knowledge?
The rejection from God is not always loud, but it is real and serious:
•He withdraws His guidance. The person walks in darkness and confusion.
•He allows them to face the results of their choices. This includes failure, pain, and regret.
•He withholds responsibilities and blessings. God does not entrust missions to those who despise His truth.
•He may let them fall into deception. (cf. Romans 1:28 – “God gave them over to a reprobate mind…”)
God’s rejection is just — it matches the heart’s own choice to reject Him first.
4. Why is wisdom essential?
Godly wisdom is a spiritual shield. It:
•Helps us make sound decisions (Proverbs 3:5–6),
•Protects us from deception and sin,
•Leads to inner peace (Proverbs 3:17),
•Aligns our life with God’s will,
•Opens doors for growth, honor, and divine promotion (Daniel 1:17–20).
5. The consequences of lacking wisdom:
•Personal and spiritual destruction,
•Confusion and wandering in sin,
•Broken fellowship with God,
•Rejection by God,
•Loss of divine purpose and calling.
6. A call to repentance and pursuit of wisdom
God does not desire anyone’s destruction. He still invites us to return:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach…” (James 1:5)
Today, make a decision to:
•Seek wisdom through God’s Word,
•Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit,
•Submit to sound biblical teaching,
•Reject pride and self-sufficiency.
7. Conclusion
To reject knowledge is to reject God Himself.
And when God is rejected, destruction is inevitable.
But if you receive His wisdom, you will be strengthened, guided, and blessed.
CHOOSE WISDOM — DO NOT REJECT IT, SO THAT GOD WILL NOT REJECT YOU.
