Being a child of God is one of the greatest revelations Scripture gives us. It is not only a spiritual title but a deep identity, a new nature, a royal position, and an inheritance full of privileges. God did not only forgive us—He gave birth to us spiritually, placing in us His life, His nature, and His Spirit.
1. An identity received by grace
“To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…”(John 1:12)
We do not become children of God through our efforts but through the new birth. God adopts us and brings us into His family. Our old identity disappears—rejection, guilt, shame, condemnation. Now we belong to the Father.
2. A new nature: God’s nature in us
The Bible says that we are partakers of the divine nature.
”He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.(2 Peter 1:4)
To be a child of God means receiving within us the life of God, His nature, His spiritual DNA.
We are transformed from the inside:
– we think differently,
– we love differently,
– we live differently,
– we no longer fear as before.
A child carries the nature of his father. Spiritually, God has made us capable of manifesting His light, His righteousness, and His power in this world.
3. Spiritual rights to exercise
A child of God is not a spiritual beggar—he is an heir.
“If we are children, then we are heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ…”(Romans 8:17)
This gives us spiritual rights:
– the right to God’s peace,
– the right to freedom,
– the right to spiritual and emotional healing,
– the right to divine protection,
– the right to approach the throne of grace,
– the right to use the name of Jesus,
– the right to resist the works of darkness.
Not using these rights is living beneath our spiritual identity.
4. Authority and power received from God
Jesus said,
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”(Luke 10:19)
Being a child of God means walking in:
– authority over spiritual forces,
– dominion over sin,
– victory over fear,
– power in prayer,
– the ability to influence and shift things in the spiritual realm.
This is not pride—it is our inheritance in Christ.
5. The creative power of words
Because we share God’s nature—the God who creates by His Word—we receive an extraordinary power:
“Life and death are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21).
A child of God can:
– call into existence what did not exist,
– command the end of what must die,
– declare blessings and see them manifest,
– destroy the works of darkness with his mouth,
– release life, healing, peace, and restoration.
This power comes from the life of God within us.
6. A sacred mission
God makes His children ambassadors—carriers of His presence.
We are not in this world to survive but to influence, transform, illuminate, and manifest God wherever we go.
PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the grace of being Your child.
Thank You for Your nature in me—Your life, authority, and inheritance.
Help me walk fully in the rights You have given me,
to exercise the authority I have in Christ,
and to use my words to build, create, heal, and destroy the works of darkness.
Fill me with Your wisdom so that I may manifest Your glory wherever I go.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
