“Let your money be with you in perdition, for you have supposed that a gift of God might be possessed by money.”
(Acts 8:20)
There is a serious reality that is damaging the faith of many people today: turning the gift of God into merchandise.
In our time, some who call themselves servants of God ask for money to pray for people, to deliver them, to give prophecies, or even to agree to meet them (booking). This is where the Word of God stands and says: “Stop!”
A gift of God is grace, not a product for sale. The ability to pray, heal, prophesy, or deliver does not come from a school, from people, or from money.
It is given by God freely, out of His grace. Jesus said:
“Cure the infirm, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You have received freely, so give freely.” (Matthew 10:8)
When someone says, “Give money first so we can pray for you,” the grace of God is turned into a commodity, and the work of the Holy Spirit becomes a business.
Many people seek God in times of suffering — sickness, family problems, poverty, or fear. But instead of being helped, some are treated as a source of income. They are made to believe that their miracle depends on how much they can give.
This puts money in the place of God, hurts the poor, and causes many to lose trust in God.
Yet God has never said that the one who gives more is the one He values more.
The Bible also warns us that not every power comes from God. Jesus said that false prophets would perform signs and wonders to deceive many (Matthew 24:24).
Some may reveal hidden things or do impressive acts, but their lives do not show good fruit, humility, or glory given to God.
Where money is the foundation of a ministry, God is not at the center.
True power from God produces repentance, righteousness, and reverence for God — not the exaltation of man.
A true servant of God does not sell prayers or measure people by their money. He may receive offerings, but his heart is focused on the spiritual well-being of people, not on personal profit. As Paul said,
« …many others, adulterating the Word of God. But instead, we speak with sincerity: from God, before God, and in Christ. » (2 Corinthians 2:17)
The essential truth is this: no one needs to pay an intermediary or give mandatory money for God to hear them.
You can cry out to God where you are, in tears or distress, and He hears you. God is near to those who worship Him sincerely, without favoring the rich over the poor.
The gift of God is grace, and grace is not for sale.
PRAYER:
Lord God,
give us hearts that recognize the truth and are not deceived.
Keep us close to You and protect Your children from those who turn Your gifts into business.
Amen.
