It is impossible for a good Christian to not be a good citizen.
In the letter that the apostle Paul addressed to Titus concerning the Christians of Crete whom he pastored, he wrote:
* »Remind them to be obedient to the officials in authority; to be ready to do good at every opportunity; not to go slandering other people but to be peaceable and gentle, and always polite to people of all kinds. »*(Titus 3:1-2)
Christians must *be subject to political, judicial and professional authorities* (Romans 13:1-5).
This submission must be voluntary, willing, because the Word of God says that all authority comes from Him (God).
It is this submission that pushes us to obey the authorities and to submit ourselves to human laws (in everything that is not contrary to the will of God) and to public order.
Christians must also *have integrity* in their community.
Their integrity must be accompanied by respect for public affairs, respect for the property of others, attachment to the common good and the promotion of good neighborliness with others.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to be good citizens.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.
