When Jesus arrived in Jericho with his disciples, Bartimaeus heard the sound of the crowd approaching and the voice of the rabbi reaching him; he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, and he began to cry out; « Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! »(Mark 10:47)
Although many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, « Son of David, have mercy on me! » until Jesus stopped to heal him.
Did you know that Satan does not want our prayers to be heard by God?
Not only does he prevent us from praying, but he also tries to come between us and God so that our prayers are neither heard nor answered.
He is like those people who told Bartimaeus to to be quiet.
If Bartimaeus hadn’t kept crying out loud, Jesus wouldn’t have heard him and therefore wouldn’t have healed him.
To defy Satan, we must absolutely persevere in prayer until our prayers (our cries) are heard and answered.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, give us the courage to persevere in prayer.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
