Suffering is the lot of every human being.
Jeremy was not spared. He suffered in the hands of men. He was also deeply troubled when he felt hunted by God.
He came to say:
« My splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the LORD. » (Lamentations 3:18)
How then did he go from suffering to hope?
Jeremiah remembered that « the LORD’s great love were not consumed, for his compassions never fail. »(Lamentations 3:22)
All who go through times of hardship must remember that the compassions of the Lord never fail.
« it is good (for them) to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. »(Lamentations 3:26)
It is also this hope that leads man to rather examine himself, to probe his ways and to complain of his sins rather than to continue to lament.
« Why should the living complain when punished for their sins? » (Lamentations 3:39)
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, help us to keep hope in all our sufferings.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
