If a Christian was attacked, how would he react? Take the example of David when he was attacked by the Philistines:
« When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold. Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of the LORD, « Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me? » The LORD answered him, « Go, for I will surely hand the Philistines over to you. » »(2 Samuel 5:17-19)
After being informed that the Philistines were looking for him, David went down to the fortress to hide there.
It is good for a person to look for a sheltered place to avoid evil coming towards him, but David, sheltered, wanted to be alone with God to pray to him about what happened to him, and asked him what to do.
May we all know that there is no greater refuge than in God!
« The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. »(Psalm 18:2)
When David was in the fortress, God listened to him and promised to be his accomplice:
« Go, for I will surely hand the Philistines over to you. »
When we rush to invoke God and take refuge in Him, He listens to us, and He too rushes to help us and face what attacks us.
If He Himself does not annihilate our enemies, He strengthens us and hand them over to us.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to always rely on You when we are attacked.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
