Let your heart not be a trash can.
A trash can of hatred, divisions, lies, evil intentions, insecurities, conflicts, jealousy, suspicions, and negative thoughts.
We live in a world where many things wound us:
people’s words, injustices, betrayals, comparisons, rejections, disappointments…
And often, without realizing it, we begin to keep everything inside.
We accumulate.
We store.
We pile up.
Then the heart becomes a heavy place:
filled with resentment,
filled with mistrust,
filled with dark thoughts.
The Bible clearly warns us:
“Preserve your heart with all watchfulness, for life proceeds from this.” (Proverbs 4:23)
If God asks us to guard our heart, it is because He knows this: what we allow inside us eventually shapes us.
A heart full of resentment sees with bitterness.
A heart full of jealousy loses joy.
A heart full of wounds ends up wounding others.
But your heart was never created to be a dump.
It was created to be a place of life.
Your heart is not a trash can.
It is a sanctuary.
A place where God wants to dwell.
A space where peace can grow.
A source from which love can flow.
Yes, wounds exist.
Yes, injustices are real.
Yes, some words mark deeply.
But you are not required to keep inside everything that hurt you.
You can lay before God
what you have accumulated.
For a heart that becomes a trash can slowly ceases to be a source.
So today, listen to God’s wisdom: Preserve your heart.
Do not let hatred settle in it.
Do not let jealousy take root.
Do not let mistrust make its home there.
Let your heart not be a trash can…
but a source of peace,
a place of forgiveness,
a space where God’s life flows.
PRAYER:
Lord, teach me to guard my heart.
I lay before You my wounds, my anger, and dark thoughts.
Purify my inner being and make my heart a source of peace and life.
Amen.
