Did you know why God placed the face on our heads?
It’s to allow others to see and understand our feelings.
Indeed, according to the Bible, the face often reflects a person’s inner emotions and attitude, whether joy, sadness, anger, or approval.
Here are some verses that illustrate this idea:
« A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. »(Proverbs 15:13)
This shows that a person’s inner state is reflected in his face.
« But on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? »(Genesis 4:5-6)
Here, Cain’s face expresses his anger and jealousy.
« Who is like the wise? Who knows the explanation of things? A person’s wisdom brightens their face and changes its hard appearance. » (Ecclesiastes 8:1)
This indicates that wisdom and inner attitude influence facial expression.
The most telling biblical example is that of Nehemiah.
He illustrates this biblical reality well: Nehemiah’s face reflected his inner state.
In Nehemiah 2:1-2, while he was in the presence of King Artaxerxes, his face betrayed his sadness. Then the king asked him:
« Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart. »
Because the Lord looked at Nehemiah with the eyes of love, He immediately noticed that there was something wrong with Nehemiah.
Yes, a person’s face reveals what he feels in his heart, but above all, when we look at him with eyes of love, we go a long way because we immediately want to know what made that person uncomfortable and how we can help him.
So, if you want to communicate well with others, get along well with them, if you want to know them, listen to them, and help them, or if you want what you talk about and what you discuss with them to be productive, not useless, you must pay attention to their faces and take the time to observe them every time you speak with them.
PRAYER:
O Lord our God, grant us that we may always look with eyes of love into the face of each person.
It is in the precious name of your Son Jesus Christ that we pray. Amen.
