The Bible tells us people to avoid and not associate with for our dignity, our integrity and our safety.
1. The angry man and the violent man:
* »Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered. »*(Proverbs 22:24)
They can be violent towards us too or get us into trouble.
2. People who often speak against others:
* »Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it…. »*(James 4:11)
Those who speak badly of others to us, also speak badly of us to others.
3. The divisionists
* »Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. »*(Titus 3:10)
They animate conversations that involve hate and gossip in order to provoke enmity and conflict.
4. People who live in disorder:
* »In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive… »*(2 Thessalonians 3:6)
Those who live in disorder cannot be useful to others.
5. Wicked people:
* »Move back from the tents of these wicked men… »*(Numbers 16:26)
Wicked people show no mercy to others and betray easily.
6. The hypocrites:
* »having a form of godliness but denying its power… »*(2 Timothy 3:5)
They can not only corrupt us and turn us away from the word of God, but they can also harm us.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to be able to avoid these people for our good.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
