It is at the Red Sea that Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen, made the glory of God burst in spite of themselves.
God had told Moses:
« The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen. »(Exodus 14:18)
The LORD split the sea, let the children of Israel cross over, and cast down the Egyptians who were following them into the midst of the sea to a depth of more or less 490 meters.
Did you know that the width of the Red Sea is more or less 350 kilometers? Over this distance, the Egyptians, although they had chariots, could not reach the children of Israel, because not only « God threw them into confusion »(read Exodus 14:24), but also « He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. »(Exodus 14:25)
Pharaoh had remained stubborn for a long time, but at this great meeting at the Red Sea, Pharaoh and all of Egypt understood that the God of the innocents is a mighty God.
It is the same for all those who are today in a situation of injustice, persecution, or humiliation. Let them know that this situation has an end, to their « red sea » where through those who persecute them, those who mistreat them, those who humiliate them, those who boo them and those who make fun of them, God will gain glory.
See you at the Red Sea!
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to remain courageous in suffering while waiting to arrive at « our red sea » where You will gain glory.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
