To express a deep wish that God, who is the source of true peace, would remain with them and support them in their faith and daily life, the apostle Paul wrote to the Christians of Rome this:
« The God of peace be with you all! Amen! » (Romans 15:33)
This blessing, I also address it to all of you who regularly follow my meditations:
« May the God of peace be with you all! Amen! »
The phrase « God of peace » is significant.
It highlights one of the attributes of God.
He is the God who brings peace, not only in human relationships, but especially between man and Himself through Jesus(Romans 5:1).
In a world troubled by conflicts and trials, God alone can offer true peace, which goes beyond the simple absence of war.
This peace is primarily spiritual, reconciling man with God through Jesus Christ (John 14:27, Philippians 4:7).
Paul does not just wish for peace, he prays that God will be with them.
This recalls the biblical assurance that God dwells with those who are faithful to Him (Matthew 28:20).
My wish is that you too would experience this divine presence and peace.
Paul ends with « Amen »*, a word that means * »so be it »*, showing that he affirms with conviction this prayer for them.
« Amen » expresses confidence and certainty that God will answer this prayer favorably.
This invites believers to adopt the same faith when they pray for themselves and for others.
In summary, this verse reminds us that God is the true author of peace, that He is present with His people and that He desires His children to live in unity and trust in Him.
MAY THE GOD OF PEACE BE WITH YOU !
