There are some christians who think that the grace of God is the licence to sin or that grace makes people sin.
That’s not true, the grace of God is not the licence to sin, grace is the cure for sin.
Here is one of the questions that Christians often ask themselves:
« What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? »(Romans 6:1)
Christians must carefully look at scriptures. The following line provides the answer to this question. It is written:
« By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? »(Romans 6:2)
After all, “living in sin” is called “being sinful.”
Now, it is the grace of God that changes the name of the believer, removes from him the bad reputation of Adam’s sinful nature even though he may from time to time fall into sin; gives him another name, of the nature of his redeemer JESUS CHRIST, and calls him “righteous.”
« For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. »(Romans 5:19)
The grace of God is therefore not the permission to sin, rather the grace of God is the remedy for sin.
Therefore where sin abounds, God makes his grace abound, so that « just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. »(Romans 5:21)
PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to understand your grace.
