THE POWER OF MUSIC

When the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.
His servants then found him a good zither player who played him good music to do him good.
This man was David, the son of Jesse.

« Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him. »(1Samuel 16:23)

The music David played did the king good not only because it was of good melody, but also because « David spoke well »(1Samuel 16:18)
Indeed, as those who sing do not always sing well, their music which rings in our ears does not always do us good.
Some music is insane, others excite us, violate our spirits or tempt us to sin.
We must know how to choose or listen to only good music that makes us feel good, edifies us and avoid music that troubles our minds or distances us from God.

PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to love music that only makes us feel good and edifies us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
