WHERE DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT LIVE ?

When many Christians pray or sing, « Holy Spirit come! », they are showing that they do not know where He (the Holy Spirit) lives.

In the Old Testament, men of God, the prophets, could ask God to send them His Holy Spirit to assist them, guide them, or accomplish specific actions.
« When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. »(Psalm 104:30)
Indeed, sometimes the Spirit of God would come upon them and they would sing like David.
But sometimes the Spirit of GOD was not there.
And finally, God promised to send His Spirit to transform the hearts of the Israelites, enabling them to follow His laws.
« I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. »(Ezekiel 36:27)

In the New Testament or more precisely in the New Covenant, things have changed, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in us.
The Bible tells us that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
« Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. »(1 Corinthians 6:19)
This implies that we are not right to pray or sing saying « Come Holy Spirit ».

Indeed, before returning to his father, Jesus Christ promised to send us the Holy Spirit. He said,
« But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. »(John 16:7)
Jesus was emphasizing here that His departure was necessary in order for the Holy Spirit to come.
He also said,
« And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. »(John 14:16-17)
The Holy Spirit is given to us to abide with us for ever.
Today, we do not need to say « Holy Spirit where are you? »
He is with us, he lives inside us and « Forever ».

For having received Christ as our Lord and Savior, He has made us new creatures.
The old things have passed away, we are born of water and spirit.
The Holy Spirit has come to live in us eternally, that is to say that from this moment when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us, he never leaves us no matter what situations and circumstances we may go through.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us to be aware that your Holy Spirit is in us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
