David expresses in Psalm 31 his confidence in God and in his justice. The verses 2 and 3 describe what God’s protection means to us.
« Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. »(Psalms 31:3-4)
In the psalms, several words express this protection: my fortress, my rock, my high retreat, my shelter, and so on.
Who can even touch us when we are in the hands of God? Nobody.
Who could find a better refuge, a better protection than the one who trusts in God, Him the Almighty? Nobody.
Indeed, for Christians, refuge, shelter and protection are in the name of Jesus.
The moment we accept Jesus as our king and savior, he comes into our lives and lives in us.
Thus, we become powerful and formidable because of his presence in us.
This is why it is said in 1 John 4:4
« You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. »
Let us always be aware of this in tribulations and in oppositions.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to always be aware that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
