For having indulged at a certain time in the worship of foreign gods and idols, the children of Israel were punished by God.
God hates his glory being given to another.
« I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. »(Isaiah 42:8)
If God Himself says He cannot give His glory to another, why do we dare to take His glory to ourselves or to people like us?
There are people, especially those who claim to be servants of God, who, because of their works in their ministries, give themselves or ask people to give them the glory that is intended for God, their master!
There are others who use God’s gifts and do certain good works for their own glory instead of doing them for the glory of God who gave them these gifts and allows them to do these good works!
All of these offend God.
Anyone who withholds glory from God and gives it to a creature who breathes the breath God has given him must know with certainty that he is offending God.
And he who dares to give people more honors, higher honors than he would give to God, must know that he also offends God.
Do not offend God, give Him his glory.
PRAYER:
Eternal our God, help us to never again dare to give the glory reserved for you to anyone.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
