The Bible tells us of a man named Abram who trusted God despite his personal fears.
The Lord said to Abram: « Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. »(Genesis 12:1)
How would you react if God asked you to leave your home, your family, your comforts and all that is familiar to you to go to an unknown destination? Wouldn’t you be afraid? This is precisely the challenge Abram faced – and he was afraid, but God said to him, « Do not be afraid. »(Genesis 15:1)
Very often, because of fear, we do very little for God, for others, and even for ourselves.
Abram had to show faith and obedience to God, and put his fears aside. If Abram had bowed to fear, he would never have entered into his destiny to become what God had created him to do – the father of a multitude of nations.
Giving in to our fears alters God’s plan for our lives.
So do what God asks you to do…even if you have to do it in fear! Like Abram, you will find that the reward is great.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, give us strength to overcome all fear.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
