When god raises us, it is always for His glory, not for ours.
We must be humble and realize that all glory belongs to God.
« But when he became powerful, his heart rose to ruin… »(2 Chronicles 26:16)
Uzziah was crowned king at the age of 16.
For many years he followed God; on the way, God gave him tremendous success (2 Ch 26.4,5).
On the other hand, things changed when his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously supported until he became mighty, but when he was powerful, his heart rose to lose him. (v.15,16):
Uzziah dared to enter the temple of the Lord to burn perfumes on the altar (v. 16), thus openly opposing the divine decree.
It may be the pride that has convinced him that the rules of God apply to everyone except him.
When king Uzziah became angry with the courageous priests who confronted him and said, « It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the LORD », the Lord smote him with leprosy (v. 18-20).
Let’s know that when God raises us, it is for his glory and not for our glory.
Let us know that when God lifts us up, it is for his glory and not for ours.
If we raise ourselves, and begin to take His glory, we sin without knowing it, because we are disobeying the Lord of Glory.
We must live with the Lord and serve Him with a humble heart.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us to always remember that you raise us only for your glory.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
