The Bible advises us to always flee from sexual immorality because we are not always sure that we can resist its temptation and get out of it.
« Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. »(1 Corinthians 6:18)
In principle, in the face of all the things that seduce us, attach us to the world and distance us from God, we must also flee:
« But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. »(1 Timothy 6:11)
But in a special way, the word of God exhorts us to flee from sexual immorality.
Indeed, one cannot, by oneself, resist temptation. We need all the grace of God and the help of his Holy Spirit to keep our conscience awake. But the best way not to give in to the temptation of sexual immorality is to flee!
This is what Joseph did when Potiphar’s wife asked him to sleep with her. (Read Genesis 39:11-12) Joseph had to flee.
In the face of sexual immorality, let us flee.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, give us the ability to flee whenever we are faced with the temptation of sexual immorality.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
