LET’S OFFER OUR BODIES AS LIVING SACRIFICES

In order for our physical body to fulfill its function as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), the apostle Paul enjoins us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice:

« Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God… »(Romans 12:1)

Indeed, our physical body is an instrument that translates our thoughts into actions. For good or ill, it reveals our inner attitude.
To offer our body as a living sacrifice is to let all the members of our body become instruments in the hands of God.

In order for our body to be holy and pleasing to God, we must absolutely renounce the desires of the flesh, that is, avoid giving our body over to sins.
« Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God… »(Romans 6:13)
We must also renounce the passions and impulses that our body asks us to satisfy.
« What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? »(James 4:1)

PRAYER:
Lord our God, help us to be able to offer our bodies as living sacrifices.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
