A series of misfortunes having befallen him, Job lost all that was dear to him, but he did not despair.
In his misery, he kept his hope in God and remained attached to him.

And as He never abandons those who hope in Him, * »The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part… »*(Job 42:12)

During his last years Job received more blessings from the Lord than he had received during the earlier years: the Lord gave him twice as much as he had before, and after this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years.
*We have no reason to despair.*
No matter how long we may stay in difficult situations, if we hold fast to God like Job did, we have a right to hope that God will surely come to rescue and bless us even in the last days of our life, as He did to Job.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us hope and confidence in your love and justice.

Une suite de malheurs s’étant abattue sur lui, Job a perdu tout ce qui lui était cher, mais il n’a pas désespéré.
Dans sa misère, il a gardé son espérance en Dieu et est resté attaché à lui.

Et comme Il n’abandonne jamais ceux qui espèrent en Lui, * »Yahweh bénit les derniers temps de Job plus encore que les premiers… »*(Job 42:12)

Pendant ses dernières années, Job reçut de l’Éternel plus de bénédictions qu’il n’en avait reçu durant les premières: l’Éternel lui donna deux fois plus de biens qu’il n’en avait auparavant, et après cela, Job vécut cent quarante ans, il vit ses fils et fils de ses fils, quatre générations. Job mourut vieux et rassasié de jours.
*Nous n’avons aucune raison de désespérer.*
Quelle que soit la durée du temps que nous pouvons passer dans les situations difficiles, si nous restons attachés à Dieu comme Job l’a fait , nous avons droit d’ésperer que Dieu viendra sûrement nous secourir et nous bénir même aux derniers temps de notre vie, comme Il l’a fait à Job.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de garder l’espoir et la confiance en votre amour et en votre justice.
C’est dans le nom précieux de ton fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

Uzziah was crowned king at the age of 16.
For many years he followed God; along the way, God granted him tremendous success and his fame spread far and wide.

* »But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God… »*(2 Chronicles 26:16)

Surely he dared to do what is not pleasing to God because of pride.
And the Lord smote him with leprosy to punish him (vv. 18-20).
If it happens that God bless us and lift us up to the point where we become powerful, wealthy or influential in society, let’s not let our hearts swell, for God hates pride.
The word of God says this:
* »Don’t allow your heart to become proud, and don’t forget the Lord… »*(Deuteronomy 8:14)
Those who exalt themselves God brings them down and humbles them.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to never let our hearts lift up when You do us good.

Ozias fut sacré roi à l’âge de 16 ans.
Pendant de nombreuses années, il a suivi Dieu; chemin faisant, Dieu lui a accordé un succès énorme et sa renommée s’étendit au loin.

* »Mais lorsqu’il fut puissant, son coeur s’éleva pour le perdre. Il pécha contre l’Éternel, son Dieu… »*(2 Chroniques 26:16)

Sûrement qu’il a osé faire ce qui ne plait pas à Dieu à cause de l’orgueil.
Et le Seigneur l’a frappé de la lèpre pour le punir (v. 18-20).
S’il arrive que Dieu nous bénisse et nous élève au point que nous devenions puissants, riches ou influents dans la société, ne laissons pas nos coeurs s’enfler, car Dieu hait l’orgueil.
La parole de Dieu dit ceci:
* »Prends garde que ton coeur ne s’enfle, et que tu n’oublies l’Eternel… »*(Deutéronome 8:14)
Ceux qui s’élèvent Dieu les abaisse et les humilie.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de ne jamais laisser nos coeurs s’élever lorsque Vous nous faites du bien.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.

We don’t associate with just anyone, because some people are cursed and their curse can affect us.
The history of the army of Israel is more eloquent.

A man of God came to the king of Judah and said, * »Your Majesty, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the people of Ephraim. »*(2Chronicles 25:7)

At that time Israel was under a curse. It was therefore impossible for Judah to team up with him for any campaign at the risk of defeat.
When we weave relationships, it takes serious discernment because some can cause our downfall because of the curses that follow them, especially when God necessarily wants to punish them.
Let’s always pay attention to it.

Lord our God, help us to choose good people with whom we can associate.

On ne s’associe pas avec n’importe qui, car certaines personnes sont maudites et leur malédiction peut nous affecter.
L’histoire de l’armée d’Israël en est plus éloquente.

Un homme de Dieu vint auprès du roi de Juda, et dit : * »O roi, qu’une armée d’Israël ne marche point avec toi, car l’Éternel n’est pas avec Israël, avec tous ces fils d’Éphraïm. »*(2Chroniques 25:7)

En ce temps-là, Israël était sous le coup de la malédiction. Il était donc impossible pour Juda de faire équipe avec lui pour n’importe quelle campagne au risque de la défaite.
Quand nous tissons des relations, il faut un sérieux discernement car certains peuvent causer notre chute à cause des malédictions qui les poursuivent, surtout quand Dieu veut forcément les punir.
Faisons-y toujours attention.

Seigneur notre Dieu, aidez-nous à choisir de bonnes personnes avec qui nous pouvons nous associer.

Poverty can affect any man at any time of his existence, just as misfortune can also affect any man during his life: bereavement, accident, illness, dismissal, etc.

The book of proverbs says that:
* »Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. »* (Proverbs 17:5)

Indeed, although there are some who are born poor in spite of themselves and who remain so throughout their lives, there are also rich who fall and become poor.
In any case, it is God who allows all situations.
To mock the poor or to gloat over the misfortune of others, insinuates that God is wrong in what He allows.
Now, God is never wrong, He has his own reasons for allowing the elevation of some and the fall of others, for allowing some to die from the same illness and others to recover, that during a fatal accident, some succumb and others come out safe and sound, etc.
And one of its reasons is to punish those who mock the poor and those who rejoice in the misfortune of others.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to never rejoice in the misfortune of others.

La pauvreté peut atteindre tout homme à n’importe quel moment de son existence, comme le malheur peut aussi atteindre tout homme au cours de sa vie: deuil, accident, maladie, licenciement, etc.

Le livre des proverbes dit que:
* »Celui qui se moque du pauvre outrage celui qui l’a fait; Celui qui se réjouit d’un malheur ne restera pas impuni. »*(Proverbes 17:5)

En effet, bien qu’il y en a qui naissent pauvres malgré eux et qui le restent durant toute leur vie, il y en a aussi des riches qui chutent et deviennent pauvres.
Dans tous les cas, c’est Dieu qui permet toutes les situations.
Se moquer du pauvre ou se réjouir du malheur des autres, insinue que Dieu se trompe dans ce qu’Il permet.
Or, Dieu ne se trompe jamais, Il a ses propres raisons pour permettre l’élévation des uns et la chute des autres, de permettre que d’une même maladie, les uns meurent et les autres guérissent, qu’au cours d’un accident mortel, les uns succombent et les autres en sortent sains et saufs, etc.
Et une parmi ses raisons, est celle de punir ceux qui se moquent des pauvres et ceux qui se réjouissent du malheur des autres.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de ne jamais nous réjouir du malheur des autres.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jesus-Christ que nous prions.

Our God is just and his justice consists in rendering to each what he deserves for the good or the evil he does.
He said to King Ahab:
* »I will surely make you pay for it. »*

Indeed, Ahab with the complicity of his wife Jezebel had unjustly murdered Naboth and his sons.
And God spoke this prophecy against Ahab:
* »Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, declares the LORD, and I will surely make you pay for it… »* (2 Kings 9:26)

This then is what happened according to the word of the Lord:
Ahab died on the battlefield. (1Kings 22:34-37)
His wife Jezebel was also killed. (2Kings 9:30-37)
Ahaziah, Ahab’s son died stupidly from a fall.
Joram his successor, was assassinated by Jehu who also killed the 70 other sons of Ahab, then their heads were put in baskets (2 Kings 10:7).
This is how God avenged the blood of Naboth and his sons.
Stop hurting others and repent, because, God who not only hears their cries and their lamentations, but also sees their suffering, will surely make you pay for it.

Notre Dieu est juste et sa justice consiste à rendre à chacun ce qu’il mérite pour le bien ou le mal qu’il fait.
Il a dit au roi Achab:
* »Je te rendrai la pareille. »*

En effet, Achab avec la complicité de sa femme Jézabel avaient fait assassiner injustement Naboth et ses fils.
Et Dieu prononça contre Achab cette sentence:
* »J’ai vu hier le sang de Naboth et le sang de ses fils, dit l’Éternel, et je te rendrai la pareille… »*(2 Rois 9:26)

Voilà alors ce qui arriva selon la parole de l’Éternel:
Achab mourut sur le champ de bataille. (1Rois 22: 34-37)
Sa femme Jézabel fut aussi tuée. (2Roi 9:30-37)
Achazia, le fils d’Achab est mort bêtement d’une chute. Yoram son successeur, fut assassiné par Jéhu qui fit aussi tuer les 70 autres fils d’Achab, puis leurs têtes furent mises dans des corbeilles (2 Rois 10:7).
C’est ainsi que Dieu a vengé le sang de Naboth et de ses fils.
Cesses de faire le mal aux autres et répent-toi, parce que, Dieu qui non seulement entend leurs cris et leurs lamentations, mais aussi voit leur souffrance, te rendra sûrement la pareille.

PRIÈRE:
Seigneur notre Dieu, donnez-nous de ne pas faire mal aux autres.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions.
