THE FOUNDATIONS OF A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Every Christian must have a good personal relationship with God.
However, although this personal relationship is different from person to person, we all share common indicators of a fruitful relationship with God:

1. Repentance:
In order to maintain our good relationship with God, we must repent if we fall into sin.
God is Holy (Psalm 99:5) and He does not tolerate sin.
Indeed, being born again, sin can no longer kill us (Romans 8:2), but it cuts our good relationship with God although it cannot call into question our status as children of God.

2. Prayer and Listening:
The way we communicate with God is through prayer.
When the relationship is good, we talk to God more and we talk to Him as often as possible.
If we are in a good personal relationship with God, He wants us to also listen to Him when He speaks to us. So we must listen to him if we respect him.
We can listen to Him through the Word, but we can also listen to the Holy Spirit. If He gave us the Holy Spirit, it is to speak to us, to warn us, to enlighten us, to move us, to guide us (John 16:13).

3. Knowledge of God:
The more we progress in our right relationship with God, the more He reveals Himself to us.
To know God is therefore to experience his daily presence in our life.
« My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. »(Job 42:5)
In this verse, it is not only about seeing, but also about considering, personally experiencing God with the eyes of our heart.

4. Obedience to God:
God loves to be obeyed more than all other things.
« Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. »(1Samuel 15:22)
Obedience is submission to the will of God in all areas of life. And this submission is not binding, it is rather motivated by trust in God, like our Father.

LES FONDEMENTS D’UNE BONNE RELATION AVEC DIEU

Chaque Chrétien doit entretenir une bonne relation personnelle avec Dieu.
Toutefois, même si cette relation personnelle est différente d’une personne à une autre, nous partageons tous des indicateurs communs d’une relation fructueuse avec Dieu:

1. La repentance:
Dans le but de bien entretenir nos bonnes relations avec Dieu, nous devons nous repentir si nous tombons dans le péché.
Dieu est Saint (Psaumes 99:5) et Il ne tolère pas le péché.
En effet, étant nés de nouveau, le péché ne peut plus nous tuer(Romains 8:2), mais il coupe notre bonne relation avec Dieu bien qu’il ne puisse pas remettre en question notre statut d’enfant de Dieu.

2. La prière et l’Écoute:
La façon dont nous communiquons avec Dieu se fait par la prière.
Lorsque la relation est bonne, nous parlons davantage à Dieu et nous Lui parlons le plus souvent possible.
Si nous sommes en bonne relation personnelle avec Dieu, Il veut que nous l’ecoutions aussi quand Il nous parle. Nous devons donc l’écouter si nous le respectons.
Nous pouvons l’écouter à travers la Parole, mais nous pouvons aussi être à l’écoute du Saint-Esprit. S’il nous a donné l’Esprit saint, c’est pour nous parler, nous avertir, nous éclairer, nous émouvoir, nous conduire (Jean 16:13).

3. La Connaissance de Dieu:
Plus nous progressons dans notre bonne relation avec Dieu, plus Il se révèle à nous.
Connaître Dieu, c’est donc expérimenter sa présence quotidienne dans notre vie.
« Mon oreille avait entendu parler de toi, mais maintenant mon œil t’a vu. »(Job 42:5)
Dans ce verset, il n’est pas seulement question de voir, mais aussi de considérer, d’expérimenter personnellement Dieu avec les yeux de notre cœur.

4. L’Obéissance à Dieu:
Dieu aime être obéi que toutes les autres choses.
« Voici, l’obéissance vaut mieux que les sacrifices, et l’observation de Sa Parole vaut mieux que la graisse des béliers. »(1Samuel 15:22).
L’obéissance c’est la soumission à la volonté de Dieu dans tous les domaines de la vie. Et cette soumission n’est pas contraignante, elle est plutôt motivée par la confiance en Dieu, comme notre Père.

Éternel notre Dieu, donnez-nous de rester en bonne relation personnelle avec Vous.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions, Amen.
