We can do like Jesus done when he was with Pilate. He answered them, not a word.

Pilate asked him, « Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you? » But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge–to the great amazement of the governor.(Matthieu 27:13-14)

So, let’s never make it our mission to change the mind of our accusers.
Sometimes our greatest strength is in our ability to shut up.

Pilate lui demanda: « N’entends-tu pas de combien de choses ils t’accusent? » Et Jésus ne lui donna de réponse sur aucune parole, ce qui étonna beaucoup le gouverneur.(Matthieu 27:13-14)

Arrêtons de chercher à faire changer d’avis nos accusateurs. C’est perdre du temps.
Parfois, notre plus grande force réside dans notre capacité à nous taire.

If ever a name was packed with significance, it is the name of Jesus.
The scripture says that Jesus was given the name that is precious:
« Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. »(Philippians 2:9-11)

What does the name Jesus mean?
The name of Jesus, announced to Joseph and Mary by the angels (Matthew 1.21; Luke 1.31), comes from the ancient Greek Ἰησοῦς, Iēsoûs, itself coming from the ancient Hebrew first name ישוע, Iéshua or Yeshua (and has the same root as Joshua).
This word means “God saves” or “God delivers.”

Why is the name of our Lord so powerful?

1. Salvation is in the name of Jesus alone:
“Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved”(Acts 4:11–12; see also John 14:6; 20:31; Acts 2:21; Joel 2:32; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 2:12)

2. Forgiveness of sins is received through the name of Jesus:
“All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name”(Acts 10:43; see also 22:16)

3. Believers are baptized in the name of Jesus: “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’”(Acts 2:38; see also Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:12,15–16; 10:48; 19:5)

4. Healing and miracles were performed in the name of Jesus:
“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see”(Acts 3:16; see also verses 6–8 and 4:30).

5. And Jesus teaches believers to pray in His name; that is, to pray, in His authority, the type of prayer that He would pray:
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it”.(John 14:13–14; see also 15:16; 16:23–24)

In the Bible, when people spoke or acted in the name of Jesus, they did so as the Lord’s representatives with His authority. The very life of the believer is to be lived in the name of Jesus (Colossians 3:17) and by doing so bring glory to God: “We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”(2 Thessalonians 1:12)
The name of Jesus is powerful.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us power to live in the name of Jesus.
It is in the precious name of your very son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.

Si jamais un nom a été chargé de signification, c’est bien le nom de Jésus.
L’Écriture dit que Jésus a reçu le nom qui est précieux:
« C’est pourquoi aussi Dieu l’a souverainement élevé, et lui a donné le nom qui est au-dessus de tout nom, afin qu’au nom de Jésus tout genou fléchisse dans les cieux, sur la terre et sous la terre, et que toute langue confesse que Jésus Christ est Seigneur, à la gloire de Dieu le Père. »(Philippiens 2:9-11)

Que signifie le nom de Jésus ?
Le nom de Jésus, annoncé à Joseph et Marie par les anges (Matthieu 1,21 ; Luc 1,31), vient du grec ancien Ἰησοῦς , Iēsoûs, lui-même issu du prénom hébreu ancien ישוע , Iéshua ou Yeshua (et a la même racine que Josué).
Ce mot signifie «Dieu sauve» ou «Dieu délivre».

Pourquoi le nom de notre Seigneur est-il si puissant ?

1. Le salut est au nom de Jésus seul:
« Jésus est La pierre rejetée par vous qui bâtissez, Et qui est devenue la principale de l’angle. Il n’y a de salut en aucun autre; car il n’y a sous le ciel aucun autre nom qui ait été donné parmi les hommes, par lequel nous devions être sauvés. »(Actes 4 :11-12 ; voir aussi Jean 14 :6 ; 20 :31 ; Actes 2 :21 ; Joël 2 :32 ; 1 Corinthiens 6 :11 ; 1 Jean 2 :12)

2. Le pardon des péchés est reçu par le nom de Jésus:
« Tous les prophètes rendent de lui le témoignage que quiconque croit en lui reçoit par son nom le pardon des péchés. »(Actes 10.43 ; voir aussi Actes 22.16)

3. Les croyants sont baptisés au nom de Jésus:
« Repentez-vous, et que chacun de vous soit baptisé au nom de Jésus-Christ, à cause du pardon de vos péchés; et vous recevrez le don du Saint-Esprit. »(Actes 2:38 ; voir aussi Matthieu 28:19 ; Actes 8:12,15-16 ; 10:48 ; 19:5)

4. Les guérisons et les miracles étaient accomplis au nom de Jésus:
« C’est par la foi en son nom que son nom a raffermi celui que vous voyez et connaissez; c’est la foi en lui qui a donné à cet homme cette entière guérison, en présence de vous tous. »(Actes 3:16 ; voir aussi les versets 6-8 et Actes 4:30)

5. Et Jésus enseigne aux croyants à prier en son nom, c’est-à-dire à prier, sous son autorité, le type de prière qu’il ferait:
« Tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le Fils. Si vous demandez quelque chose en mon nom, je le ferai. »(Jean 14,13-14 ; voir aussi Jean 15,16 ; 16,23-24)

Dans la Bible, lorsque les gens parlaient ou agissaient au nom de Jésus, ils le faisaient en tant que représentants du Seigneur et avec son autorité. La vie même du croyant doit être vécue au nom de Jésus (Colossiens 3:17) et, ce faisant, apporter la gloire à Dieu: « ainsi le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus sera glorifié en vous, et vous serez glorifiés en lui, selon la grâce de notre Dieu et du Seigneur Jésus -Christ. »(2 Thessaloniciens 1:12)
Le nom de Jésus est puissant.

Izina Yesu risobanura iki?

2. Kubabarirwa ibyaha byakiriwe mu izina rya Yesu:
“Abahanuzi bose baramuhamije, bavuga yuko umwizera wese azababarirwa ibyaha ku bw’izina rye.”(Ibyakozwe 10:43; reba na 22:16)

3. Abizera barabatizwa mu izina rya Yesu:
“Petero arabasubiza ati « Nimwihane, umuntu wese muri mwe abatizwe mu izina rya Yesu Kristo ngo mubone kubabarirwa ibyaha byanyu, kandi namwe muzahabwa iyi mpano y’Umwuka Wera. »”(Ibyakozwe 2:38; reba na Matayo 28:19; Ibyakozwe 8: 12,15-16; 10:48; 19: 5)

4. Gukiza n’ibitangaza byakozwe mu izina rya Yesu:
“Kandi uyu, uwo mureba kandi muzi, kuko yizeye izina ry’Uwo ni ryo rimuhaye imbaraga, kandi kwizera ahawe n’Uwo ni ko kumukirije rwose imbere yanyu mwese.”(Ibyakozwe 3:16; reba n’imirongo ya 6-8 na 4:30)

5. Kandi Yesu yigisha abizera gusenga mu izina rye; ni ukuvuga, gusenga, mububasha bwe, ubwoko bw’amasengesho yasenga:
“Kandi icyo muzasaba cyose mu izina ryanjye, nzagikorera kugira ngo Data yubahirizwe mu Mwana we. Nimugira icyo musaba cyose mu izina ryanjye nzagikora.”(Yohana 14:13-14; reba na 15:16; 16: 23-24)

Muri Bibiliya, iyo abantu bavugaga cyangwa bagakoraga mu izina rya Yesu, babikoraga nkabahagarariye Umwami n’ububasha bwe. Ubuzima bw’umwizera ubwabwo bugomba kubaho mu izina rya Yesu (Abakolosayi 3:17) kandi n’ukubikora bihesha Imana icyubahiro: “Ni cyo gituma tubasabira iteka, ngo Imana yacu ibatekereze ko mumeze nk’uko bikwiriye abahamagawe na yo, kandi isohoreshe imbaraga imyifurize myiza yose n’imirimo yanyu yose iva ku kwizera, kugira ngo izina ry’Umwami wacu Yesu rihimbarizwe muri mwe, namwe mumuhimbarizwe nk’uko ubuntu bw’Imana yacu n’ubw’Umwami Yesu Kristo buri.”(2 Abatesalonike 1:11-12)

One day, King Xerxes ordered the book of records, the Chronicles, to be brought in and read to him.
It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigathana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate king Xerxes.
The king said:
« What honor and reward has Mordecai been given for this fidelity? » – « He has received no compensation at all », replied the king’s servants who were in office near him.(Esther 6: 3)

It was then that the king decided to reward the good of Mordecai.

This is also how, by Mordecai, all Jews were saved from the genocide planned by Haman, the enemy of the Jews.

As King Xerxes rewarded Mordecai, God will reward us sooner or later, for whatever good we do.

Let us do good, let us not be discouraged by anything, for, one day, God will open the book of our records, notice the good that we have done and will reward us for it.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the strength and courage to do good.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.
