Anyone who is still alive, no matter how deplorably bad their life is, deserves to have hope.
The book of Ecclesiastes tells us that a living dog is better than a dead lion!
« Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! »(Ecclesiastes 9:4)
In Hebrew culture, the dog was a highly despised and unclean animal.
But, as long as it is still alive, it is better than a dead lion.
This comparison implies that a dog, although despised and unclean (at that time, in Hebrew culture), is worth more than a dead lion.
This means that life is precious.
Although we may find ourselves in the most deplorable state of humiliation possible, God can return to us, change our history, rehabilitate us, restore us, and put us in a better life while we are still alive. The most important thing is life.
Therefore, we have no reason to despair, because, as long as we are still alive, all the good things that exist can happen to us.
There is hope in all life.
