MASTER YOURSELF!

“Just like a city lying in the open and without surrounding walls, so also is a man who is unable to restrain his own spirit in speaking.” (Proverbs 25:28)

A city without surrounding walls is exposed and vulnerable. Nothing protects it. Nothing prevents the enemy from entering.

The same is true of a person who cannot restrain his own spirit in speaking.

Master yourself!

Do not allow your anger to speak for you.
Do not allow your emotions to control your tongue.
Do not say everything you feel.
Do not let every provocation force a response from you.

Sometimes, the greatest victory is not in answering, but in knowing when to remain silent.

Your mouth can build, but it can also destroy.
Your words can heal, but they can also wound.
Your tongue can bring peace, but it can also create conflict.

That is why Scripture says:

“The one who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.” (Proverbs 21:23)

A person who cannot restrain his spirit is like a city without walls—open, exposed, and vulnerable.

But self-control gives you a spiritual boundary. It teaches you to pause before you speak, to think before you react, and to choose your words wisely.

You do not have to respond to every provocation.
You do not have to win every argument.
You do not have to say the last word.

Sometimes silence is strength.

So today, ask God to help you master your spirit, guard your tongue, and control your words.

MASTER YOURSELF!

Build the walls again.

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” (James 1:19)

Shalom!
