When a person is offended because others are rich and successful, prosperous, peaceful, comfortable, popular, or in some way better than him, he is envious, jealous.
Jealousy is what made Cain kill his brother Abel.(Read Genesis 4:1-8)
The jealousy of Joseph’s brothers made them plan to kill him.(Read Genesis 37:11)
Rachel’s jealousy of her sister Leah, who was her rival, caused Jacob to have a bad family without peace and joy.(Read Genesis 30:1)
The Jews were jealous of the apostles because they would perform miracles and bring many people to Christ.(Read Acts 5:17-18)
Paul found that envy was the source of division and strife among the Corinthian Christians:
« Since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? »(1 Corinthians 3:3)
Examples are many.
Jealousy is bad.
And, it comes from Satan.
God protect us and take his roots out of the hearts.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, protect us from jealousy and take his roots out of our hearts.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
