When Job was grieved, his friends mocked him, saying,
« If you are pure and upright; even now He(God) will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state. »(Job 8:6)
In chapter 12, Job begins to express things incomprehensibly to the workers of modern times. He says he is despised by those who have an easy life:
« Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping. »(Job 12:5)
Indeed, when everything goes well for us, we risk believing that, in a way, those of us who are not in trouble are better or more beloved of God than those who have difficulties.
It’s wrong.
God loves us all and He watches over all with the same attention.
So we all need Him, in the good as in the bad times.
The successes, the abundance and the positions God gives us are tools that help us to encourage others when they experience difficulties.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us always to remember that you love us with the same love as others.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.
