Jephthah, from the tribe of Gad, is driven out of his country by his half-brothers because he is the son of a foreign woman.
He takes refuge in Tob’s country where he becomes a gang leader.
It was during this period that the Ammonites waged war against Israel.
When the Ammonites made war on Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob.
They said to him:
« Come, » they said, « be our commander, so we can fight the Ammonites. »(Judges 11:6)
Jephthah said to them:
« Didn’t you hate me and drive me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now, when you’re in trouble? »(Judges 11:7)
The elders of Gilead said to him:
« Nevertheless, we are turning to you now; come with us to fight the Ammonites, and you will be our head over all who live in Gilead. »(Judges 11:8)
Jephthah agreed with them, fought and defeated the Ammonites.
This is how he became the leader of his people.
If there are people in your family or in your community who hate you and reject you, know that God cannot hate you or reject you.
No matter how many, how powerful, or how influential are those who hate you, God cannot stop loving you or stop the good plans He has for you.
Because you are his child, God will cause those who hate you and reject you to return to you and humble themselves before you.
Don’t worry.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the consciousness that you love us and that nothing can separate us from your love.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
