After God forbade Adam and Eve to touch and eat the fruit of the tree that was in the middle of the Garden of Eden, lest they die (read Genesis 2:16-17), Satan said this to Eve:
« You will not surely die, » the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. »(Genesis 3:4-5)
What a lie!
And unfortunately, Eve believed it instead of trusting the word of God.
Indeed, anything contrary to the word that came out of the mouth of God must be considered a lie, and its author is none other than Satan.
Satan never approaches us face to face to deceive us, he uses our friends, co-workers, neighbors, family members, and especially people we trust strongly. They tell us a lot:
There are those who tell us that God hates us, that he has abandoned us and that he is going to destroy us because of our sins. It is a lie of Satan, because God hates sin but cannot hate his children because of their sins. He also cannot kill us because he loves us so much that he even sacrificed his only son on the cross for our salvation.
There are others who tell us that because we enjoy the grace of God, we are allowed to sin without consequence. It is also a great lie of Satan because hell awaits sinners who reject God’s grace of repentance and forgiveness and refuse to repent.
Let’s not be deceived.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, help us to no longer trust the lies of Satan.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
