No where in the scriptures does it teach that we ought to search or pursue happiness.
We find happiness as we do our duty, we find happiness as we lead a disciplined life before God.
We will have periods of happiness, but God nowhere promises happiness as a goal in life.
It should not be our goal.
Rather, our goal should be to please God.
« Our only goal is to please God. We want to please him whether we live here or there. »(2 Corinthians 5:9)
If we obey God, do His will, and be good disciples of Jesus Christ, we please God, and He will please us too:
As we move along in our lives, we will encounter happiness here and there along the way.
And if we please God, let us be sure that He will also please us and fill us with happiness.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, help us to always please You in our life.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
