Instead of letting the senseless seductions of the world draw us to fight for the conquest of the perishable goods of the world, the word of God exhorts us to fight instead a good fight in the service of the faith.
« Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. »(1 Timothy 6:12)
On the day of our baptism, we confessed in the presence of many witnesses, our ambition to live with God forever.
And from that day forward, we have committed ourselves to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. (read 1 Timothy 6:11).
Our good fight, then, consists in staying and strengthening ourselves in our commitment, because that is what will make us satisfy our ambition to live with God forever.
Nothing should therefore distract us or discourage us in this noble struggle.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, help us to fight our good fight for the faith.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
