When Jesus withdrew to the Sea of Galilee to be alone in a deserted place, many people followed him. It was over 5,000 people and Jesus taught them many things.
But, moved with compassion for the crowd, Jesus « healed their sick. »(Matthew 14:14)
He also divided five loaves and two fishes to this crowd and « all ate and were satisfied. »(Matthew 14:20)
Curiously, all were impressed by the miracle of the healing of the sick and that of the sharing of the loaves and fishes with this multitude of five thousand people, but no one could notice that being able to speak and be heard without a microphone, to this crowd of five thousand people was also in itself a great miracle!
These people found it normal to speak to a crowd of five thousand people and make themselves heard, just as people nowadays find it normal to be alive, to get up in the morning after a long night’s sleep, to be in good health, to have enough to eat, to see, to hear, to speak, to think, and so on.
And yet everything, and especially what we take for normal, is a miracle.
Nothing is normal, everything is a miracle!
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to see your miracles in everything and to praise you.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
