SOLIDARITY WITH THE INDIGENT

The word of God exhorts us to support and help needy brothers.

* »Is there anyone poor among you, one of your brothers, in any town of yours in the country which Yahweh your God is giving you? Do not harden your heart or close your hand against that poor brother of yours, but be open handed with him and lend him enough for his needs. »*(Deuteronomy 15:7-8)

Indeed, helpers are a source of blessing according to the Lord:
Helping a needy person who asks for help is like lending to God.
* »Whoever is kind to the poor is lending to Yahweh who will repay him the kindness done. »*(Proverbs 19:17)
Imagine what God can give back to you if you lend to Him!
In fact, He showers us with blessings by multiplying charitable giving in our hands:
* »You will be rich enough in every way for every kind of generosity that makes people thank God for what we have done. »*(2 Corinthians 9:11)
This is why the Bible says in the book of Acts of the Apostles 20:35 that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to be always ready to help and support our needy brothers.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
