THE STONE THAT BUILDERS REJECTED

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” (Psalm 118:22)

Jesus knows what it means to be rejected.

The religious leaders rejected Him.
His own people refused Him. Many looked at Him and saw nothing valuable.
Yet the very stone they cast aside became the cornerstone of God’s eternal plan.

Perhaps you feel like that rejected stone today.

Maybe you have been overlooked despite your efforts.
Maybe people have ignored your gifts, underestimated your abilities, or dismissed your dreams.
You see others being chosen while you remain unnoticed.
You wonder why your value is not recognized.

A person in such a situation often feels forgotten, unwanted, and discouraged.
He may question his worth.
He may even begin to believe the negative opinions spoken about him.
The pain of rejection can cause him to withdraw from others and lose confidence in the future.

But rejection does not determine your destiny.

The builders who rejected the stone were not the final authority—God was.

What should you do when you feel like a rejected stone?

First, refuse to define yourself by people’s opinions.
Your value comes from God, not from human approval.

Second, continue developing the gifts and abilities God has given you.
A rejected stone does not become a cornerstone by complaining; it becomes useful by remaining available in the hands of the Master Builder.

Third, remain faithful where you are.
God often prepares great destinies in hidden places before revealing them publicly.

Finally, trust God’s timing. The stone was rejected for a season, but it was later placed in the most important position of the building.
In the same way, God can turn rejection into promotion, disappointment into testimony, and obscurity into influence.

If you want to be remembered, do not spend your life trying to impress people.
Spend your life fulfilling God’s purpose.
People may forget your name, but they cannot ignore the impact of a life that God has established.

Today, if you feel like the stone the builders rejected, remember this: the same God who made Jesus the Cornerstone is able to lift you from rejection and place you exactly where His purpose intends.

The stone that men rejected became the chief cornerstone. The person people overlook today may become the instrument God uses tomorrow.

PRAYER:
Lord, when I feel rejected and overlooked, help me remember that my value comes from You.
Give me the strength to remain faithful, the wisdom to grow, and the patience to trust Your timing.
Turn every rejection into an opportunity for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
