As a whole, the Word of God warns us against excessive drinking.
Aside from alcohol destroying our health, the book of Proverbs says that anyone who overdoes it is unwise:
* »Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. »* (Proverbs 20:1)
Indeed, the one who indulges in the immoderate use of alcohol becomes like the insolent who makes fun of God and his Law, and who also ends up no longer being master of his words or his actions.
* »Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. »*(Proverbs 23:29-30)
Since alcohol leads man into a dangerous and dishonorable life, shouldn’t it be appropriate to give up its consumption?
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give to those who still consume alcohol the strength to be able to give it up.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
