Luke 17:15-16
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks…
MEDITATION:
People who have a grateful heart always praise God. We often hear them saying: « God is good! » They know that God is the reason for all the blessings they get.
But there are some who, when they are blessed, never think of giving thanks to God. Their hearts are captivated by blessings, not by the one who bless them.
This is the case of these nine lepers among the ten that Jesus healed. They did not bother to come back to thank Jesus.
Only one came back and fell at the feet of Jesus, thanking him.
Notice the very sad words of Jesus that followed: « Were there not 10 cleansed? But where are the nine? » (Luke 17:17).
Do you know that when this man came back to thank Jesus, he received an additional blessing to become whole?
Jesus said to him, « Arise, go then; your faith has healed you « (Luke 17:19). So, not only was he cleared of leprosy like the other nine, but he found his missing fingers and toes back!
Beloved, when we show our gratitude to God, we are positioning ourselves for even greater blessings!
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us a grateful heart to you and to all who do us good.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
