“See to it that you walk cautiously, not like the foolish, but like the wise: atoning for this age, because this is an evil time.”
(Ephesians 5:15–16)
Time is one of the most precious gifts God has given us.
Money that is lost can sometimes be recovered, and possessions can be replaced, but lost time never comes back.
When you make an appointment with someone, that person gives you a portion of their time. They organize their day, travel, wait, and sometimes give up other activities in order to keep the commitment made with you.
Never treat someone else’s time as if it has no value.
Arriving late without informing the other person, failing to show up for an appointment, or deliberately making a false appointment may seem like a small matter.
Yet it reveals something deeper: a lack of consideration for the person and for the time they have given you.
Jesus teaches us:
“Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’”
(Matthew 5:37)
If you promise to come, do your best to be there on time.
If something unexpected prevents you from coming, let the person know.
If you already know that you cannot keep your commitment, be honest and say so.
Respecting an appointment is therefore not merely about being punctual.
It is about honoring your word, respecting others, and recognizing the value of their time.
Do not make someone wait unnecessarily. Do not make false appointments. Do not promise what you have no intention of keeping.
Your time is precious, but other people’s time is precious too.
May our “yes” truly be yes, and may our actions demonstrate faithfulness, integrity, and love toward others.
PRAYER:
Lord, teach me to respect other people’s time as I want them to respect mine. Give me the wisdom to keep my word, be punctual in my commitments, and be honest about my appointments. Amen.
