We have all been let down by broken promises or commitments. And certainly, it also happened to us not to honor our commitments or our promises independently of our will. That means that everything depends on the will of God.
When he wanted to leave Ephesus, the apostle Paul told his companions this:
« I will come back if it is God’s will. » Then he set sail from Ephesus.(Acts 18:21)
Paul was right, because we can’t do anything unless God wants us to.
Accident, illness, imprisonment, dismissal, as well as death and other situations and circumstances may interfere to prevent us from doing what we have planned or promised to do.
Of course, we must pray for all our plans, but we must know that our plans will only be realized « God permitting. »(Hebrews 6:3)
So it is better that we have the habit of always saying « IF IT IS GOD’S WILL », when we promise or plan to do something.(Read James 4:14-24)
And GOD WILLING, nothing can get in the way.
PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to always submit to your will.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
