FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

One of the first purposes of the Holy Spirit when it comes into the life of a Christian is to transform him.
« The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. »(Galatians 5:22-23)
The fruit of the Spirit is what God wants to see manifest in our lives, and with the help of the Holy Spirit.

1. Love:
It is the Holy Spirit, who pours love into our hearts (Romans 5:5).
He is the perfection of our soul, because he unites us to God who is our last end and to our neighbours.
2. Joy (in God):
It is a disposition of the soul, by which we rejoice in all the perfections of God and all the goods which we know have been given to our neighbor and to us for the glory of God.
Rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 4:4).
3. Peace (of the Lord):
It is the tranquility of the soul, it makes us peaceful ourselves, by the empire it gives us over the passions which disturb our soul. The peace of the Lord is a good, which surpasses all feeling.
4. Patience:
It is a virtue that makes us bear with resignation and courage all the evils of this life, however great and long they may be.
5. Kindness:
It is a quality of the soul, which leads us to always do what is right. It makes us attentive and exact in all our duties, fervent and devout towards God, tender, affable, sincere, charitable towards our neighbour.
6. Goodness:
It is a good disposition of the soul which leads us to do good to our fellow-creatures, makes us sensitive to their sorrows and their embarrassments, and urges us to seek the means of extricating them.
7. Faithfulness:
It consists in candid fidelity, without mistrust, without subterfuge, without artifice, to any contracted commitment. This virtue is the basis of social relations.
8. Gentleness:
This virtue impels us to render service to our brothers, to sympathize with their afflictions, as if they were our own disgraces, to help them promptly, as far as is in our power and without listening to our reluctance and our delicacy. (Acts 10.38)
9. Self-control:
It is an austere virtue, which makes us resist the attraction of the passions and all carnal desires.

PRAYER :
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to bear fruit of all the fruits of the Holy Spirit for your glory.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
