I AM NOT LIKE OTHER MEN !

Some people convince themselves that they are righteous and look down on others.
They are like the Pharisee who prayed standing confidently, with his head held high, saying:
« God, I thank you that I am not like other men–robbers, evildoers, adulterers–or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get. »(Luke 18:11-12)

It is important to note that although this Pharisee went up to the temple to pray, he did not ask for anything. His prayer consisted of listing first the evil he does not do, then the good he does; but all this with a spirit of pride.
All those who are like this Pharisee are not sincere. Like this Pharisees, they judge themselves to be righteous when they are not and judge others with exaggeration because they are not as they describe them.

What is the use of judging oneself righteous before God who sees to the depths of the heart?
What is the point of judging others when we do not know their relationship with God?
It’s ridiculous!
This is why Jesus said that « everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. »(Luke 18:14)
Indeed, true born again christians do not look down on others. They know that they are saved by the grace of God and that even others will also be saved by the grace of God. They are humble.
Let’s be humble.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to be humble in our daily lives.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
