« I will not die, but I will live. And I will declare the works of the Lord. »(Psalm 117:17)
This declaration of the psalmist is not merely a human statement of confidence; it is an expression of faith in the power and faithfulness of God.
In the midst of difficulties and threats, the psalmist chose to believe that his life was in the hands of the LORD. He understood that God had a purpose for him and that no one could end his journey before the time appointed by God.
As children of God, we too can walk with this assurance: our lives are not abandoned to chance. We are in the hands of a heavenly Father who loves us and cares for us.
The greatest life that God gives is not only a prolongation of our earthly days, but eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Jesus declared:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
This eternal life is not merely a promise for the future; it is a reality that every believer already possesses in Christ.
The apostle John writes:
“God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son… I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:11–13)
Therefore, our true security does not rest only in the number of our years on earth, but in the fact that our life is hidden in Christ. Even circumstances cannot change what God has accomplished for those who belong to Him.
We can therefore declare with faith:
I will not live by my own strength, but by the grace of God.
I am not abandoned to the power of death, because Christ has given me eternal life.
I will declare the works of the LORD, because my life belongs to the One who created and redeemed me.
May our entire existence become a testimony of His goodness and faithfulness.
PRAYER:
Lord my God, thank You because my life is in Your hands.
Teach me to walk according to Your will, to rely on Your grace, and to proclaim Your works around me.
Thank You for the precious gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Amen.
