LET’S PRAY FOR OTHERS

Did you know that God can work favorably for a man because of the prayer of another? This is called « intercession ».

The illustrative example we find it in the book of Job.
After Job acknowledges God’s sovereignty and humbles himself before Him, God addresses his friends Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite to rebuke them with these words:
« So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. »(Job 42:8)

So they did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer
We would do well to have a behavior that causes people (especially the righteous) to wish us well and pray for us. God Himself established this system of going through one to bless another in order to promote unity. Intercession is an important act in the life of a true Christian as we see there with Job who must to pray for his friends.
James 5:16 also tells us:
« … pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. »
This is an encouragement for us to be righteous with God, not for ourselves but also for others who are its beneficiaries.

PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to always remember to pray for others.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
