Jesus Christ never prayed for the sick, for the disabled, and for the dead. He used his own power to heal the sick and disabled and to resurrect the dead.
After healing many sick people, Jesus Christ called his twelve disciples and gave them this power to cast out unclean spirits, and to heal all sickness and infirmity:
« Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. »(Matthew 10:1,8)
It is this power that his disciples used after his departure for heaven.
It is this same power that we also received when we welcomed Jesus into our lives as our King and our Savior.
However, even though we have this power, we cannot use it without faith.
Jesus said we will do miracles if we have faith.
« If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. »(Luke 17:6)
He also said:
« If you have faith and do not doubt… you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. »(Matthew 21:21)
Let us then have faith to use this power which we have received by the grace of God.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us faith to use the power you have given us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
